ACR: Update August 2016

8/22/2016

Adonai Child Rehabilitation is a Christian faith-based ministry in Kalaymyo, Myanmar that was established in May 2016. This ministry creates a place of rehabilitation for children and teenagers from various backgrounds like orphans, unwanted children, street children, and poor children.

Gratitude to God and Supporters

First of all, I thank the almighty God for His faithfulness and loving kindness upon the Adonai orphans. And I would like to express my sincere gratitude to sister Nancy, the president of Transparent Fish Fund, and all the staff and prayer partners around the world for their faithful prayer and donations. May the Lord richly bless them and fill them with joy, peace, and grace.

Nutrition Update: Feasting on Good Food

Since all our orphans have come from remote jungle villages, they had never been able to eat good food before, such as food cooked with oil and curry. Before coming to us, they hadn't even eaten simple rice. They ate corn that wasn't ground up.

But since they were brought to our rehabilitation center, they have been nicely provided for by TFish. All of the food they eat has been significantly improved. We give them very good food like beef, chicken, fish, egg, beans, and vegetables. For breakfast they enjoy tea and bread.

Lunch at school
I wondered about them when I saw them eating. A part of me felt pity for them, seeing how one child could eat 5 plates of rice at one sitting. They can eat a lot of rice at one time, and then after eating they all use the bathroom. We increased the amount of rice we cooked every day, but still, they can eat it all up. Anyway, I think it is good to limit how much they eat, because they are still children, and if they eat like this they will become gluttons, and it may harm their health too. Therefore we teach them how to eat and how to maintain good health. Now we let them eat up to 3 plates at a meal. Because of the good food, their skin complexion has become good and their bodies have become strong.

Education Update: From C's to B's

Going to school in the rain
Every morning, my wife, Mrs. Angun, takes the orphans to school. She packs food for their lunch and then brings it to school every day at noon for their lunch break. At 3:30 in the afternoon, I pick the children up with the car. They all have full attendance and maintain excellent performance in the classroom. All the teachers are Buddhist and Burmese, and they are all surprised to see the improvement of our orphans. Last month some of our orphans got C's in their grades, but this month they got B's. They improved their skill, capacity, and performance.

Health Update: God Is Healer

God is so good to our orphans, and we can say they have not been sick in the month of August. Maybe because of the good food, their bodies have developed more resistance against sickness. Even if someone gets a slight fever or headache, we treat them with one pill of Biogesics, which is for pain relief, and immediately they feel better.

Our treatment is not solely dependent on medicine though. We depend on God, who loves us. If one of the orphans gets sick, we pray and then give them medicine. God always heals them. Now all the orphans know that God is the healer. If one of them gets a headache, they lay hands on that child's head and pray for each other. God hears the simple prayers of the orphans.

The Improvement of Our Mentally Disabled Boy, Thla Hnin

Among our orphans, Thla Hnin is the most vulnerable boy because he has a mental disability. Sometimes we cannot understand what he's saying. He can be a very naughty boy but is also very cute. Last month he used to relieve himself at school while sitting in the classroom, and even at night he used to wet the bed. We were so worried about him and prayed for him every night. God answered our petition, and now he has improved a lot. He no longer relieves himself like he used to last month.

My wife, Mrs. Angun, teaches him privately how to write, read, pronounce, and calculate by using fingers to count. Now he can calculate himself and read and write, but he still needs help and some more guidance. We trust he will recover completely from his mental challenges after some time.

Outing to Enjoy Chicken Soup

Orphans visiting the village
Since the weather nowadays is rainy, we didn't make plans to go out for any excursions. But we felt it was God who arranged for us to go out to enjoy some chicken soup. My mom, who is very sick at a village called Hakhalay, which is 20 miles away from us, invited our orphans to visit her, pray for her, and have very delicious chicken soup.

On August 13th, we all went to that village early in the morning. All our orphans were so excited to go. They all wore blue t-shirts, and I drive them there. My mom happily welcomed us and provided her chicken soup. All the orphans enjoyed the village chicken soup. We came home in the evening and had the chicken soup for a second time

Amazing Story of Mom's Healing

Picture
My mom is 71 years old. She was diagnosed with liver congestion and two kidney failures. Her stomach was swelling and hard like stone. She could not breathe properly, she could not eat, she could not sleep at night. She was in a lot of pain.

After she offered chicken soup to all our orphans, they all prayed for her. Now her health is very good now! She no longer has pain, and her stomach is soft like normal. She can eat, she can sleep, and all the swelling has gone away. It is an incredible testimony for my mom! God hears the prayer of the orphans.

God's Gracious Provision for the Orphans

We never expected that someone would come and give something to our orphans. But God works miracles. This month, two women came and brought some fruit (pineapple and jack fruit) for our orphans to eat. God moved the hearts of these people to love and share what they have with the orphans. Not only do they have a heart of love and generosity, but they also have faith that giving to the orphans will lead to miracles for what the giver needs.

Thanks to Private Donors

Picture
We give thanks for two private donors. One is Mrs. Adar from Melbourne, who has helped our orphans with donations of $72 both last month and this month. This woman has a husband and three sons, who are working in Australia. We do not know how long she will be able to help us. She asks for us to pray for her family and career so that she can help our orphans every month. We use her donation to pay for the house rent, water bill, and electric bill. We pray for her family every night at our prayer service.
Another donor is from Texas. His name is Mr. Simeon, and he works in an oil company. Last moth he helped us with $100 for the cook's and the warden's salaries. But this month he can only help us with $50 due to the economic downturn of the oil company. Therefore, we no longer have the capacity to hire the warden, but my wife, Mrs. Angun, is teaches the orphans full-time and guides them as a volunteer. We pray for Mr. Simeon's job so that he can help the orphans again.

Praise for Protection from Natural Disasters

August 25, 2016
Greetings,
We praise the Lord for His wonderful protection from the danger of a severe earthquake. Yesterday just before sunset, a great earthquake shook this area. Many houses were damaged, and some people were killed.
There has also been a nationwide flood for several weeks that has caused much harm. Many children are in trouble, and 500 schools were closed. Yesterday 300 of the schools reopened.
Please continue to lift up our safety to the Lord. Thank God that all our orphans are doing well.
Thanks for your prayer and support.
Blessings,
Rev. Thang

Prayer Request for Guitar

We have devotions twice a day, in the morning and evening. When we sing praise, we have no instruments to play, so we just clap. We are asking for a simple guitar for the orphans' worship time. A simple guitar costs $100. We believe God will provide the guitar to worship Him.
