Ark Welfare: Cares on September 14

Ark Welfare is a non-profit established in Hechi City, Guangxi, that encourages people to get involved in public service and respond to the needs of their communities.

Time: 10:00 AM

Site: Baijiahui Supermarket

Event: Under the guidance of teachers and volunteers, 27 children came to the supermarket. They were teamed up with volunteers to purchase goods for a rural survey activity. 

Facing a wide variety of products, they felt lost, not knowing what to buy. But the volunteers accompanied them and helped them buy the things they wanted. They began to select actively and interact more with the volunteers. What impressed me most is that the children liked books. Xiao Jun is in Grade 4, and he said he wanted some history books when we asked him. He selected 5000 Years of History of China after he went into the supermarket. He read several stories at the bookshelf and then went to select stationery. The staff of the supermarket were supportive of our activity and prepared a little gift for each child. The children began to smile and be less reserved.

Event: Dinner with 27 children

With all the rich dishes set before them, the children could not help being excited. They could not wait to begin eating. We believe they were very happy about dinner.

Event: Photographing each child

The children marveled at the various beautiful pictures. Most of them wanted to try taking pictures while they watched the shooting. They were shy when their turn came to take pictures. Under the instruction of the photographer, each child was able to capture a moment through a picture.

Event: Watching cake making and giving a box of moon cakes to each child. 

The children could not hide their curiosity and watched the cake making attentively. They gave the baker warm applause. The sweet and delicious cakes made each child happy. The bakery gave each child a box of moon cakes as a gift for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Event: Creating figures 

Each child was given his or her favorite cartoon character. Some of them liked little huts; some of them liked bears, and some of them liked the pretty princesses. With their own hands, they made their favorite cartoon figures. Each child was proud of his own work.

Event: Launching ceremony for a new Ark Welfare project

The launch of this new project means more children can be helped. Society's warmth will be conveyed to each child just like a big family. Through this project, each child will receive a 10kg bag of rice and 20 eggs.

Site: Bus station 

Event: Volunteers see the children off. 

The children are so innocent. They felt all the love and kindness from the volunteers. They expressed their gratitude with innocent smiles and reluctant farewell hugs. They waved their hands out the windows to say goodbye to the volunteers. Each volunteer waved with silent wish - that they would grow up healthy and have a bright future.
