Volunteers from the International Organization of Pediatric Dentistry visited the Home to check the teeth of the children here. They taught them how to maintain oral health. It was the first time many of the children saw a dentist. Thank you volunteers!

The Jingjieniao Home: Our Handy and Caring Teachers

5/4/2013

The Jingjieniao Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources

The operation fund is tight, and we still keep most of worn-out articles. The teachers of the Home found tools to fix chairs. Look, the repaired chairs, desks, beds can be used again. There are more and more children, and the existing desks, chairs, beds and mobile boards, computers, etc. could not meet the needs. The Home could not afford more articles and we hope someone could help.

Each item is valuable for the Home and everyone cherish each piece article of the Home. Teacher Zhang, a new teacher, is a skillful craftsman, who repaired most of the articles. Our teachers, apart from teaching students, they also take care of our children’s lives. Look, our teacher is trimming the child’s nails and sewing their clothes.

The Jingjieniao Home: Xinxin Just Left Home

4/10/2013

The Jingjieniao Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources

When a child leaves her home or family, she undoubtedly feels scared and unsafe in a new environment. She will be speechless or cry, running into adults' arms to ask them to take her home.

This pretty girl is our new member, Xinxin. She always looks out of the window while holding her toy bear in her arms, saying, “Little bear, grandpa and grandma have gone back home. I would like to go back, too." Sometimes, she just sits without a word, looking to her little bear.

Our principal held Xinxin in her arms and some older children played piano for her. We believe Xinxin will like the Jingjieniao Home and will make many friends here.

The Jingjiniao Home: Thanks to TFish Fund

4/4/2013

The Jingjiniao Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources

Dear respectable staff of TFish,

Thank you for your professionalism for the public welfare and attention to our children. Thanks to your support and understanding, we made progress in spite of difficulties. Your high-efficient style in work made a model for us to set our own goals.

We work with the children with disabilities who are from poor families, so our running costs could not be raised from the families. We had to rely on the supports from loving people in society before the supports from the government in place. We still stick to our commitments and responsibility and run our Home with the low payments for the teachers. We hope to record every day with the camera, but we do not have extra money to buy a better one. The camera bought 5 years ago has been fixed for several times and could not take nice pictures.

We would like to say sorry for it to the staff of TFish, but we still believe we will be better. Thanks again on behalf of the children, teachers and parents of our Home.

Thank you very much, staff from East China of Intel Cooperation, for 2000RMB to our children for purchasing school uniforms for our children. After careful selection, we bought 40 sets of uniforms for our children. They were very happy.

Now we are sending the family photo of Jingjieniao to you with children in their uniforms. We hope to express our gratefulness in this way. Hope you will visit us when you have time!

Thank you, Intel!

Jing Jie Niao Home: Gifts

3/4/2013

The Jingjieniao Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources.

After the Chinese New Year holiday, I reflected on our service activity where a couple of Canadian volunteers brought gifts for Bobo. Bobo’s mother came to pick him up afterward (seen in photos below). Bobo loved the gifts from the international volunteers.

Our organization bestows honor to the international volunteers for their devotions. Each volunteer receives an elegant gift with the Home’s logo and they love the gift.

Jing Jie Niao Home: Dreams Painting on the Wall

1/30/2013

The Jingjieniao Sunshine Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources.

We are dreamers and we are learning to decorate our home little by little. We hope you can also come and experience the joy exchanged by the children here. We hope you come and enjoy their achievements. We hope you come and share your dreams and feelings, and be our new friends. A mother of a mentally disabled child said that her biggest hope is to live one day longer than her child, and to call for equal rights for disabled children. At Jing Jie Niao Home, we converge ideas, money, time, wits, and talent, forming a big river in the end and letting the dream blossom and bear fruits.

We wanted to paint our dreams on the wall of Jing Jie Niao, but we could not afford the expensive paint. Fortunately, Lady Wang, a volunteer, donated paint of various different colors to us after hearing our wishes. Volunteers from the Art University then helped us paint our dreams on the wall. Volunteers from Xi’an Children Art Education Base even forgot to eat and rest in order to paint a loving tree. Thank you all.

Jingjieniao Sunshine Home: Shopping in the Supermarket

1/28/2013

The Jingjieniao Sunshine Home provides services for the mentally handicapped from poverty-stricken families. The organization is dedicated to improving their spirit and living standards and advocating for every disabled individual to have adequate access to social resources.
Jingjieniao provides life skills training for disabled youth. Recently, our teachers took the children out to the supermarket and taught them how to shop. The children learned to read price and identify and choose grocery items with the teachers' instructions. They also learned how to carry out simple currency exchange.

When the day was over, the children were content with the practice that they received. Their vision of life was expanded and their life skills improved. You see, they are smiling happily!
