Jiugai Primary SchoolJiugai Primary School in Yangchang township is about 130 kilometers away from Nayong county. It takes about 3 hours by bus to get there. There are 97 children at school. The lunch project began in 2012, and the project is going smoothly. Looking at the students' smiling faces, we can see they are happy about their lunch. We will keep delivering their latest information to loving people and partners. Luozai PreschoolThere are 39 children in preschool at the Luozai teaching site in Yangchang township. The lunch project began in 2013. The place is far away from Nayong county, which takes about 3 hours by bus and 1 hour on motorcycle to get to. The road is narrow and muddy. Whenever we visit, we see their happy faces.

Wuzuo Primary School is in Lao’aoba township of Nayong county, which is located at the bonder of Nayong and Zhijin county. It is the remotest and poorest mountainous area. There are 59 children in preschool. It normally takes about 1 hour walk for most of children to get to school. In partnership with Three Cups Tea, we provided lunch for the students. The lunch project began in spring semester of 2014. Loving Nayong has been randomly checking. According to the feedbacks from parents of preschool students, the lunch solved problems for them. They did not worry about the children who did not have to go back home for lunch. Poqi Primary School of Zuojiuga township is in a remote mountainous area. It takes about 2.5 hours bus to away from Nayong county. 60% of the students are ethnic minorities. Most of students live far away from school. Lunch project began in 2012, which provide lunch for the students in preschool, which is in line with nutrition standard of the nation. The students do not have to bring potatoes for lunch. There are 56 children in preschool this year. Yangpo township is one of remotest towns in Nayong county. Most of children from poor families. They live separately and most of them need to walk about 1 hour to get to school. Lunch project began in 2011, which provided free lunch for preschool students. Looking at the smiling faces, you can see they are happy about their lunch. The project improved their nutrition. Their health indicators improved a lot. There are 107 children this year. Aoshu Primary School of Yangchang township has over 107 children. Most of them are left-behind children. After surveys, we decided to provide lunch for them. The standards are in line with the nation’s. We often call or go to the site for checks. We received positive feedbacks from their parents. In the morning of June 19, Nayong did donation for 2 libraries from Qingjiao Primary School and Meihua Primary. Money for 2 primary schools came from pocket money of 2 children. The library in Meihua Primary School was named Xiuping Library and the one in Qingjiao Primary School was named Yaya Library. 915 volumes of books worth of 25176.9 RMB were donated to Meihua Primary School. 894 volumes of books worth 25296.60MRB were donated to Qingjiao Primary School. At the donation ceremony of Qingjiao Primary School, the principal gave speech, “it is a special day which have been expecting by all of us. Mr. Aijing donated books to our library. Mr. Aijing and his wife and children came to our school, which shows their care and love for us. It is an inspiration for us. They wanted our children to know the world by reading books. With this, we will be no longer hungry and cold……” The children are happy with books. Mr. Aijing told the students to read more. The more they read the books, the better. He would bought new when these were worn out. The quantity and taste are good. - According to the observation, the sanitation is good. - The canteen management is good. - The canteen had detailed working records and samples. - According to the purchasing list and on-the-site inspection, the weight of pork is about 5 kilograms less. - The school reported the problem of costing counting. They did not know how many students will come to school the next day. The canteen has to prepare food the day before, so it’s not appropriate to count according to the actual presentation of the students. We arranged tracks with rice and vegetable oil. I got up early and rode a motorbike to the villages. The goods were divided to 3 villages, Zaile, Huazhuo and Dongdi. I received thank-you letters from the students during the process of goods distribution. I was moved and felt our efforts had been rewarded. As a child wrote in thank-you letter: you are the sun and I am the grass covered by you sunshine.

This summer, Compassion Nayong was able to raise money for free lunches for schools. They were able to visit the Guizhou mountainous areas and served 3910 portions to children in the area. 17 schools applied for the free lunch and about 1058 yuan (USD$172) of operation fees were collected. The free lunch was held on Children’s Day. Volunteers were there to supervise sanitation and purchase of materials. It was an incredible feeling of community.
