Tianlai Speech Therapy Center is located in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province. It provides services on audio language rehabilitation for children with hearing impairment as well as early education for children with special needs, instructing the parents to know the rehabilitation skills for children with hearing impairment. On June, 21, with the support of TFish, we held a workshop on language rehabilitation for parents. Apart from the parents from our center, some other parents of children with hearing and speech impairment also attended the workshop. The teachers’ vivid and professional speeches won much warm applause. The parents were in high spirits to learn. They shared their views and ideas actively. It was a successful workshop. We want to thank TFish for providing help for us and the parents. We hope more families will attend the future workshops so that more and more children can thrive in the world of sounds. Tianlai Speech Therapy Center of Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province aims to provide speech rehabilitation services to the children with hearing impairment and early special education, instructing the parents to master the skills of rehabilitation for the children with hearing impairment. It’s a professional rehabilitation organization for the deaf children, integration of education, rehabilitation and research. In 2013, a national cochlear implant project helped 17 children from the Tianlai Speech Therapy Center. After 3 months of training, they developed quickly. Now they can understand simple sentences. Their parents were very happy and became more confident about their children's future. Parents also play a key role in speech rehabilitation for children with hearing impairments, so we organized a parent's meeting after school every Friday. Teachers reported on the children’s weekly performance to their parents, pointing out their developments and weaknesses. Meanwhile, we instructed the parents on how to consolidate and expand training in the family. The parents also gave feedback and asked questions. In the one-hour meeting, the parents learned a lot. During the rehab process, not only the children, but the parents as well, are changing. The parents become positive and more willing to make an effort. This is a big change from the embarrassment and desperation they often feel after they learn about their child's problem. On May 23rd, 2013, Madam Xiao visited the Tianlai Speech Therapy Center and donated 600 RMB. Madam Xiao hopes the children will grow up happy and healthy. We want to thank Madam Xiao and other loving people on behalf of our children. The Center takes a part out of donations to provide a nutrition supplement for the children.
