Fangzhou Welfare is a non-profit established in Hechi City, Guangxi, that encourages people to get involved in public service and respond to the needs of their communities.
I still remember the first time I heard of the organization Transparent Fish Fund. At that time, we were in the very early stages of developing our organization. I believed we were the right partner for the program, but didn't know if we could get past their rigorous application process. We uploaded our financial plan and program proposal to TFISH and waited patiently.
It was sometime May 2011 when I received a surprising phone call. Mr. Chao called us directly from the US. He read through our application and believed in our work and wanted to help us improve our project management skill and achieve financial transparency. With his an encouragement we were able to grow into the organization we are today.
In 3 years, we transformed in several aspects as followings with the support of TFISH:
1) Financial Transparent
Through this time, we have mastered financial management with Excel. Since we used the financial management software promoted by TFish, our management has been improved greatly.
2) Project Management
Our project management capacity has been improved a lot. Project progress and relevant data became clear.
3) Quantization of Data
At the beginning of the operation, we did just quarterly and annual report for the activities. We did not have detailed data to record our activities. With the instruction of TFISH, especially the launch of project board, we started to think more on data collections. In 2014, we began to collect data seriously. With the data information, we are able to give proper analysis and judgment.
4) Now the idea of transparent finance and public service has been deeply rooted in our routine work. With the standardization of finance and project, our capacity in different aspects has been increased. The support of Guangxi Grass-Root Organization improved our impact and profile. Our capacity in application funds and other social resources were improved. We hope to find more resources to help more children and elderly.
