Surgery in 2011
Xihong is fifteen now. Thank to the LRS heart surgery sponsorship, he had a successful correction to his congenital heart defect in 2011.
Xihong’s family consists of four people. Primarily, it is Xihong and his grandparents who are living in the house, for his father is often away to earn wages as a migrant labor worker. Xihong has been doing well at school, and is a good helper at home. Next semester, he will move to junior high school.
Xihong is a mature boy, but physically he is much smaller than his peers. He needs proper food and nutrition for him to grow, but unfortunately, his family can’t afford it. Through the Adopt a Family program, we provided 1950 RMB ($300 USD) to help cover his tuition and nutrition supplements.
Xihong used to think of becoming a scientist, but he has a new idea now after his field trip to a NICU during the summer camp. The doctors explained the surgical operation and the recovery process. Xihong would like to be a medical doctor, who will help those who suffer from diseases. We wish Xihong all the best!
