Little Red Scarf provides financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, they provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle
When Jia Yi was 1 year and 6 months old, she was very skinny and her skin was an unhealthy dark purple.
After being diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, she was seen as a burden for her family. The family had already been in heavy debt for her grandparent's medical bills. The family thought to discard her and have another healthy baby. Fortunately, her mother insisted on raising enough money to treat her with surgery.
Jia Yi’s mother is a great mother. When her grandfather had the idea to give up her, her mother firmly denied her grandfather’s idea.
The surgery outcome was not optimistic and Jia Yi wasn’t removed from ventilation until 14 days after the surgery. She had a high fever and kept coughing.
Eventually she started getting better. We compared pictures of her before and after the surgery. The situation changed a lot. We could see how important surgery is for the life of children like her.
Her face was dark purple before the surgery, but now her face and lips are pink. We hope Jia Yi grows up healthy and happy.
