Xiaozhuan’s Successful Recovery
On May 31, 2010 Xiaozhuan successfully completed surgery, becoming the 67th child Little Red Scarf supported in Gansu. Afterwards her parents were finally freed from their constant source of worry. Now Xiaozhuan is a healthy 13-year-old. She is a 5th grader who excels academically. Each day she needs to walk for over 40 minutes on mountain roads to get to school. If not for her surgery, Xiaozhuan would have a hard time walking on the important road to his education.
Diabetic Father and Brick-Moving Mother
Xiaozhuan’s father has had diabetes for many years. Now his eyesight is blurry, and he can’t do any demanding physical work. He relies on medicine that lowers blood sugar levels and insulin injections to survive. The burden of feeding the entire family rests on Xiaozhun’s mother alone. She works in a brick factory moving bricks, earning 24,000 yuan last year. Xiaozhuan’s father’s medication costs over 7,000 yuan each year, and Xiaozhuan’s older sister’s high school tuition and living costs come to 10,000 yuan a year. These two expenses amount to 70% of the family’s total annual income.
Help Xiaozhuan’s family so Xiaozhuan’s mother can lighten her burden.
