Little Red Scarf is in Lanzhou, Gansu and Yunnan province and provides financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, they provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Last October I helped 3 year old Qiqi check out of the hospital with her young parents. Her surgery was just completed and had gone successfully.
When she was about 1 year old, Qiqi was diagnosed patent ductus arteriosus. She caught colds easily, but luckily had no major diseases. At the time, they had 6 people in the family. The whole family depends on 4 mu of fields which grew with potatoes and oil seed rape. The family also raise several pigs and dozens of chicken. In the early of 2014, her grandfather was diagnosed bladder cancer and spent about 40,000RMB for medical treatment. The treatment has been going on till now. Qiqi’s grandmother is also in poor health. The whole family was thrown in difficulties and owed 30,000RMB of debts.
It’s a big problem for the young couple to face. Luckily, Little Red Scarf helped them in some way. On October 13, 2014, the operation completed. When I saw Qiqi again, she was awake from anesthesia with sweaty head. Her mother was feeding her fried rice.
On October 14, 2014 and it’s the time for Qiqi to leave hospital. When I came to the ward, she was in deep asleep. I took a family photo before she went for Ultrasound. She had not been fully woken up and was leaning in her mother’s arms. Her father kept saying thanks which is the way he expressed their gratitude to sponsors.
Hope Qiqi recover soon and also give her parents blessings. Hope the help of LRS will bring them hope to face the difficulties.
