LRS Summer Camp 2016: Day 2

8/8/2016

Morning Exercises, Games, and Breakfast

Day 2 of the summer camp began, and the children already could not contain their excitement. They got out of bed early in the morning and were eager to begin the day. Cindy’s family had already prepared warm-up exercises and were moving along to the radio. Another beautiful day had begun.

As we had to wait five minutes for breakfast, we decided to use the time to play some games to get to know each other.

The children are eating a healthy breakfast consisting of eggs, steamed buns, porridge, and pickled vegetables. Someone shouted, “What a hearty breakfast!” Cindy helped ladle out porridge for the campers.

The boys began to compete over who could eat the fastest.

Gifts and Dance Class

After breakfast was a short break, when Cindy gave the campers a mysterious gift: a convenient and practical Little Red Scarf drawstring bag! And pencil cases too!

Some of the children began to whisper to each other, “Is there anything else?” Oh, it turns out there's imported Canadian chocolate too, which is supposedly very yummy. Let’s quickly taste it!

Arts, Crafts, and Music

After a short break, Lina began to teach everyone how to make their own name tags. Whoever makes a nice one gets a reward!

Let’s see the result! The children all hold up their name tags with pride.
After a short break, Cindy began the music class and taught the campers how to play the recorder.

Lunch Time

After a morning of learning, lunch quickly arrived. The children responsibly formed an orderly line, and as Teacher Yun and Teacher Chang ladled food for the kids, they emphasized the importance of taking only as much food as you are going to eat. Lots of labor went into each grain of rice, and we can’t waste food!

Afternoon Arts and Crafts

Afternoon rest time was two hours. Cindy’s family used this time to prepare arts and crafts. Look at how intently they are working!

The younger children also had handicraft classes led by Teacher Zhong.

Watermelon Break

Time for a break! Because of the hot weather, Ms. Xiaoma cut watermelon for everyone. Everyone chatted while eating, making bonds even stronger.

Performance Practice and Games

Because tomorrow we are going to the Gansu Women’s and Children’s Hospital for a free checkup, the children began to practice a performance, which they planned to perform after examinations were over to thank the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and give them a nice surprise.

We also played games.

A happy day has come to a close, and the children all look so content. During dinner, we all discussed what we had learned today.
