New Partner: Adonai Child Rehabilitation, Orphanage in Myanmar

6/30/2016

Adonai Child Rehabilitation (ACR) is a Christian faith-based ministry in Myanmar that was established on May 20, 2016. This ministry creates a place of rehabilitation for children and teenagers from various backgrounds like orphans, unwanted children, street children, and poor children. We are partnering with them to help provide nutritious food for their 11 orphans this year, as well as some other basic necessities like school supplies, clothing, and bedding.

Thanks to our donors, Henry and Lisa Chang and Grandma Chu's Love Fund, our fundraising goal for ACR this year has already been met!

Leader's Background and Vision

The ministry is led by Rev. Thang, from Kalaymyo, Myanmar. He shares his story.
I was born in 1977. I am married and have 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter. I am serving in a Christian organization which mainly focuses on helping young people and children from any tribe and religion. Since 2002, I have been working among children and youth as the Lord has given me a passion to reach orphans and street children.  My heart was broken to see many of the orphans, street children, children who are abandoned by their own parents, children and teenagers who are physically abused and subjected to human trafficking, and children who sink into drug addiction.
I believe children are a seed for the future, tomorrow's leaders.
If all children and young people are not built up and transformed, then our future world and community will be darkened. Therefore I started to do this type of Christian humanitarian job with a deep love for the poor children, orphans, and teenagers.

Goals

Our main goal is "Salvation and Education." Our motto is that they must be saved and have a good education so that they can serve God wherever they are. I feel they need to be helped and educated from their early childhood. We will send them to school according to their grade level, and we will support them in whatever is required for their studies. They need mental encouragement and care. They need to feel somebody cares about them, they need love from others. And we will teach and let them know how to become a good man and woman who can succeed in life. One day after their graduation, they can become Godly leaders in their own society and community.

Administration and Daily Schedule

Mainly my wife and I stay with the children full time. We talk with them, play with them, and give them a chance to share what they like and how they feel. We have one volunteer warden who is an experienced warden, and we hired another woman for cooking. Out of the 7 days in a week, we provide meat (beef, chicken, and fish) three times. On the rest of the days, we feed them vegetables, eggs, and beans.

From Monday through Friday the children attend school. In the morning from 6-7 AM, we have devotions and Bible reading. At 7 AM we give them breakfast of fried rice and tea, and at about 8 AM we send them school, which is a full day. At noon about 12:30, there is a break time for one hour. The school dismisses at 3:30 PM. Play time is between 4:00 - 4:30 PM. Bathing time is 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. We give them dinner at 5:30 PM. And in the evening from 6-7 PM is worship time. From 7-9 PM our warden leads them in their assignments and studies from what they have learned at school.
