This Father's Day let's support single fathers in China and fatherless children in Cambodia.
Abandoned by Mom, Raised by Dad
In honor of Father's Day, we're highlighting two rural Chinese families whose fathers are raising the children on their own. The mothers left home because their children had congenital heart disease. Let's support these hard-working fathers.
Lihua's parents got divorced when she was 10. She used to live with her mother, but once Lihua was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, her mother abandoned her. In 2014 she had a successful heart surgery with our help.
Now Lihua is 17 and in middle school. She lives with her father and older brother. In order to take care of his daughter, Lihua’s father has to stay in the village instead of working in the city. This limits his opportunities to earn better income. Will you help us raise $300 to help subsidize Lihua's tuition for high school?
We first met this family of 6 because the oldest son Jia Le had severe congenital heart disease. After his diagnosis, the mother abandoned the family and has not been in touch with them since then. In 2009, we helped Jia Le undergo heart surgery.
Jia Le’s younger sister Jia Yi is 11 and is diabetic. She needs daily insulin injections, but her family struggles to afford it. Their grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in August 2015, and his chemotherapy treatments have increased the family debt.
The father is the main supporter of the family. He works hard in Beijing to earn more money, laboring as a delivery man during the day and at a restaurant at night. Will you help us support this family for their medical treatment?
A Father to the Fatherless in Cambodia
Thousands of children throughout Cambodia are orphaned and abandoned due to residual effects of the Khmer Rouge regime and civil war. In partnership with SEAPC, we're helping build a safe children's home for 39 orphans.
