Adonai Child Rehabilitation is a Christian faith-based ministry in Kalaymyo, Myanmar that was established in May 2016. This ministry creates a place of rehabilitation for children and teenagers from various backgrounds like orphans, unwanted children, street children, and poor children. Grant Outcome Summary: Proper Education and Assurance of SalvationThe orphans at Adonai Child Rehabilitation would not have a proper education or assurance of salvation if it weren't for the TFish grant. Before coming to us, five of our orphans were not in school while they were living in the villages, even though they were already seven to eight years old. After they were supported by TFish they began their education from first grade. Now they have assurance of salvation and a good education. Touching Story of Mr. Thla Hnin
We felt so concerned for him, not knowing how to help him, but we showed our love to him and encouraged him not to give up, not to be discouraged. We prayed to the Lord, and now Thla has improved a lot. He no longer just relieves himself. My wife Mrs. Angun has taught him privately how to read, write, pronounce, and calculate math by using his fingers to count. Now he can calculate himself and read and write well.
Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry: People with leprosy are sent to isolated villages where they are abandoned and forgotten by society. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry has a special place in its heart for these people and organizes groups of volunteers to travel to villages plagued with leprosy in order to provide medical, living, and psychological assistance. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry is located in Kunming, Yunnan. Lepers lives a quiet but isolated area. Few people would come here. They are forgotten I spared one day from tight schedule. With the arrangement of the local friend, I was going to visit a village living with lepers. according to him, there are dozens of such villages in Yunnan province. Most of the leprosy patients are very old and the size of the villages became smaller. A Friday morning, we set out in a rented mini-van. The village is about 2 hours ride from Kunming. Apart from several friends from LA, we came along with Liang Ping, a local Chinese medicine doctor.
The van packed with us and bags of materials bringing to the village. I was curious why the Chinese medicine doctor had been visiting the village. A friend in Kunming talked about their experiences in visiting the village during the past decades. Leprosy is actually a low-infective illness. There’s a false impression among people during the past 10 years. They thought the illness would be infected to people around, so they sent the patients to remote areas, leaving them in places far away from the towns. Apart from subsides from the government, the lepers have to grow vegetables and raise chicken. It looks like a quiet area, but it is actually an isolated place. Few people would come here, even though their relatives who had forgotten them. When we arrived at Yiliang county, we ride to a twist village road. We finally arrived at the foot of the mountain where the village is located. Limbs of the patients have been serious deformed. The wounds were ulcer. Liang Ping had been visiting the village regularly. She helped to treat the wounds. She also chat with them. Lanzhou Jingcheng Public Service Center is located in Gansu Province and mainly serves the disadvantaged groups in society, helping them renew their confidence in life and build up their self-reliance. Services include: 1) Care for the rural children left behind 2) Care for children after surgery 3) Concern for the old public service areas 4) Carrying out a variety of public training, consulting, and advocacy activities. Wu Village’s He Li Elementary School is on the other side of the mountain. To reach the school from the village, we had to climb the mountain and then descend it. He Li Elementary School is a complete small village model school, with students also coming from neighboring villages. The combined teaching is a special aspect of this school, helping to inegragte these students.
The winter coats have been efficiently distributed for two days now, and everything is in order. He Li Elementary was the last leg of our trip. At every location, when we were doing the preparatory work, the Yueshi volunteers taught the students the art of paper cutting. Volunteers taught carefully, and the children diligently learned. He Li Elementary has 36 students in total, and the clothing was distributed in three different sizes. We disbtributed one size small, 14 size mediums, and 21 size larges. Looking at the students' precious naivety really makes one’s heart melt. At this moment, we are just as joyful as the kids are. With support from TFish, this project aims to support poverty-stricken villagers living in Huining county, Gansu province. The project provides microloans to promote income and provide development opportunities for the villagers. Since 2013, we have been involved with community development work in Lucha village. Although we achieved satisfactory results, there were a few families who improved slowly because of many factors. We have to give more attention to these families. The following is an interview we did with Uncle Huang’s family a few days ago while working at the village. Soon after we arrived, Uncle Huang’s son came home from school at noon. The father and son sat in the middle of the yard and basked in the sun while talking about the son's education. (Uncle Huang’s son was one of the poor students that was funded by the Western Sunshine Foundation). Uncle Huang said that there was little water left at home, so he needed to carry the water back from a fountain in the ravine under the cliff. The fountain was used by the previous generations. The water was a little salty (brackish water), but still drinkable. Uncle Huang said he bought two buckets for eight dollars each, back when he was in his twenties. They were in good quality and he used them a lot, but now they leak a little bit. When Uncle Huang was carrying the water back, his son, who is a third grader suffering from a mild case of cerebral palsy, saw his father fetching water, so he helped open the lid of the water tank. The tank was nearly full, after the two buckets of water were poured in. December 30, 2016

Compassion Nayong Public Welfare is based on Nayong, a poverty-stricken area in Guizhou Province. Taking the network as the platform, it carries out various public welfare activities to aid education. Compared with other families, their situations are relevantly better. The children have parents, though their father works away and their mother has mental problems. They are a complete family. Ping Ping is in grade 2. His older sister, Shu Qing is in grade 5. They go to the same primary school which is far away from their home. They have to walk for about 1 hour on the mountainous roads, which did not hinder them to go to school. Shu Qing does well at school. She has a big dream. She told the social worker she wanted to study hard so that to do something good for her hometown. Ping Ping likes drawing. He wants to be a painter when he grows up. The article was written by Shu Qing. It was incredible for a rural children to write such a fancy science fiction scene. In the fiction, she is a scientist with assistant, lab in the Mars, machine dog, 6C5B mobile phone, spaceship company, etc. The social worker was surprised by her imagination. Shu Qing told us she learned a few passages about science in their Chinese text book and she also learned from TV. Apart from rich imagination, she has strong learning capacity. She is humor and has good observation. The food that the family eats every day
Little Red Scarf is in Lanzhou, Gansu province and provides financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, they provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Special thanks to Dean & Shwu-Hui Chang and Dr. Samuel So for donating $240 to support Cai Ping's domestic dream -- raising sheep and cattle. A year later, thanks to their support, Cai Ping’s dream has come to fruition! C36 Caiping: Caiping is a 2015 beneficiary of Little Red Scarf. The following information was exchanged over a phone call, in which we sought to understand Caiping’s current situation and the development of her project, which she described to us. Physical health: Caiping’s cough is still quite severe, and four days of intravenous therapy hasn’t improved her symptoms. She is now boiling 20 batches Chinese herbal medicine at home. The first half of the year had her feeling healthy, then sick, and the second half of the year has just been a repeat of the first. When Caiping went to Lanzhou in March to receive a heart examination, the doctor that she was not fully recovered. This was quite strange, as it has been three years since her operation, and doctors had previously told her that her recovery was going smoothly. I recommended that Cai Ping visit other hospitals and see if their prognoses differ. I also suggested that the she do a lung examination for her cough. Cai Ping’s husband felt back pain more often and over longer periods than last year. The couple’s poor health has meant that they can’t even farm all of their land. Of a total of eight acres of land, they rented out more than 7 acres, and work on the harvesting of 3 acres: 1 of potato, 1 of sesame, and 1 of corn. Potato is a staple for the family, as is sesame oil, so the cultivation of both crops is important to them. Corn is used to feed cattle, and flour, also a necessity, is purchased.
