Xi'An Charity Union: August Report on Dandelion Aid

Xi'An Charity Union aims to "spread the spirit of volunteerism, vying for the public welfare pioneer." Specifically, the Dandelion Project plans to help 10,000 students, living in poverty in the mountains in 10 years by providing them with knowledge and potential employment. July 31th, we visited a special needs family in Huayin. They have six children total, and one is attending primary school now. Our team took many clothes to the family members and told them we would like to aid the children for school.

August 5th, 2012, our environmental team organized an Environmental Protection Activities at Xingqing Park.

August 9th, 2012, we visited the “mask boy”-Lele, who suffers from nephrotic syndrome. Then we learned some detailed conditions about Lele and we decided to let more people know him and help him.

August 9th, 2012, our team went to visit Binbin, the boy had been scalded; we also donated 200 yuan to Binbin.

August 11th, 2012, the team organized the activity of being a traffic warden to help policemen.

August 12th, 2012, we did some research on 13 children of poor families and made plans to support them.

August 13th, 2012, 12 volunteers taught in the rural area of Qiaonan County for 7 days and came back safely.

August 19th, 2012, we visited the disabled young man Ma Hua, “the nicest person in China,” with several media and volunteers. Since we knew he was living with less, we bought over 470 yuan of necessities. 

August 19th, 2012, the disabled aiding team organized a birthday party for the disabled young man Jia Yan, who had made many achievements.

August 25th, 2012, the “Cycling Aid Action for Poor Children” by “the nicest person in China” - Ma Hua, was launched in Xi’an Qujiang International Exhibition Center. We also raised 12,400 yuan on-site.

August 26th, 2012, we organized the Aid Action in Qiaonan town. This time, we sponsored 8 children and donated over 4,000 yuan in all; three new sponsors also became members of our team.

August 27th, 2012, we arranged an Aid Action trip to Qianjiawan primary school with Ma Hua and volunteers. We donated 5,000 yuan to 10 children in all.

August 29th, 2012, many passionate people came to see Ma Hua off for the “Cycling Aid Action for Poor Children”.  A full-time staff and three volunteers from Xi’an Public Welfare Association will accompanied him all along.

August 30th, 2012, Mr. Kong Bin, leader of the association was invited to share and exchange experience with volunteers of Xianyang Volunteer Association.

For the whole month, we raised 34,000 yuan for Yuyu and 21,000 yuan had been admitted by hospital to continue her treatment. Now Yuyu is in stable condition, and our volunteers visit her regularly. 

Arrangements in September:

We will continue Ma Hua’s Aid Action in Sanmenxia, Luoyang and Zhengzhou. The local media and our team will publicize for the activity.

The center will finish sponsor work of this term for children in Shangluo, Fufeng and Lantian.

Launch donations in several cities for poor students.

Organize one-to-one Aid et Action event in Xi’an. 

Continue to do research in unsponsored counties in Lantian; make full preparation for building the education aiding base for Lantian County.

Keep carrying out regular voluntary works of community, environment and help the senior citizens.
