Yurunhuanjiang Micro Public Good Alliance works with poverty-stricken families, women, children as well as empty nest elderly in Qi County of Qingyang City, Gansu Province.
By chance, I went to Huan county of Gansu province.
One of reasons I visited Huan county is that I learned from CCTV that the water is precious here. People use the same water to wash face, then plates and bowls, then wash face again. I was shocked and confused.
Secondly, I have seen a man with a weather-beaten face on the screen. His eyes expressed sad, helpless and deep attachment to land.
It’s more than drought here. I could not see any young men here, but I saw women, old people and children in the fields. To seek better life, young men went to work in the city and many of them even chose to settle down in the city and would not come back. Lands were deserted and homes were dilapidated, helpless groups as empty nest elderly and left behind children were left to the society. Who care about their lives and spiritual world?
Urbanization and endless desire for materials make people displaced and leave their homes and family members. Where is our root?
