Mission: 1 in 10 Asian and Pacific Islanders (1 in 12 Asian and Pacific Islander Americans) is infected with chronic hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is also the leading cause of liver cancer in Asian Americans. Prevent yourself from hepatitis and liver cancer through simple vaccination and testing. Through collaboration, advocacy, research and education we can eliminate hepatitis!

Description: The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is the first non-profit organization in the United States that addresses the high incidence of hepatitis B and liver cancer in Asians and Asian Americans. Founded in 1996, the center uses a three-pronged approach towards fighting hepatitis B through outreach & education, advocacy, and research. Join Jade is a movement initiated by the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University to empower individuals and communities to eliminate viral hepatitis, particularly hepatitis B. Chronic hepatitis B infection is the leading cause of liver cancer and it affects 350 million people worldwide. In May 2010, the World Health Assembly drafted a new resolution that vowed to dedicate a greater focus on eliminating viral hepatitis.

Donation Impact
Partnering with Gansu and Qinghai provinces to launch the Jade Ribbon Programs to educate pregnant women and train healthcare workers. Online and print educational materials were developed in partnership with the Asian Liver Center. The goal is to increase the capacity of the health systems to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B and to diagnose and care for chronically infected persons.
