Project: iPads for Chinese Children with Disabilities
Mission: Providing life-saving love and services to those in China with disabilities who have been abandoned.
Results: Through joint ventures with local governments (that allow ICC to maintain 100% control over all funding), ICC is providing homes for life for those China’s abandoned and disabled. They provide family-style living environments with trained caregivers, nutrition, special education, acute medical care, vocational training, and therapy to help each child reach their fullest potential. |
Description: International China Concern is a Christian development organization that exists to provide love, hope, and opportunity to hundreds of children and young adults who no longer have a family to love them or support services to help them thrive.
ICC believes that every child has the potential to grow and learn. For children with disabilities, this potential can only be reached with the help of trained caregivers, educators, therapists, and access to technology that can empower them to do so. Computer technology is one of those tools of empowerment. As part of ICC's New Technology for Life project, Transparent Fish Fund is covering the cost of 9 iPads and 6 PC’s. These devices will be used in all three of ICC's project locations in Changsha, Hengyang, and Sanmenxia. In the hands of trained staff, these iPads and computers will help children and youth in classroom settings, vocational training centers, and their home environments so they can learn to read, spell, communicate, and experience new levels of independence.
