Project: Housing and Scholarship in Vietnam
Mission: To provide homes for impoverished families living inhabitable conditions and also provide scholarships to children who are unable to attend school in rural Kien Giang, Vietnam.
Results: 20 bikes for children to travel to school, 90 scholarships, 2 bridges, 126 homes for poor families living in shacks since 2013 and over 50 new homes were donated from the Transparent Fish Fund, 16 homes were built in 2015. 2014: 39 homes, 121 scholarships, 1 bridge 2012 and 2013: 51 homes, 47 students |
Description: Sahaya International, a US 501(c)3 organization, helps relieve poverty in rural Vietnam by providing adequate homes and scholarships for impoverished families. In the province of Kien Giang. located in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam, rural families live in inhabitable conditions. The infrastructure of their homes is very weak. The roofs are comprised of leaves and plastic tarp that provide minimal protection from the tropical climate. As the rain leaks through, the undeveloped dwelling floors turn into mud. In addition, family struggle to find the resources to send their children to school. Many children are unable to have any type of education because of their financial difficulties. This results in an ongoing cycle of poverty. In 2013, Sahaya International in collaboration with Transparent Fish Fund has reached a milestone of a total of 65 homes built for struggling families.

In the province of Kien Giang. located in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam, rural families live in inhabitable conditions. The infrastructure of their homes is very weak. The roofs are comprised of leaves and plastic tarp that provide minimal protection from the tropical climate. As the rain leaks through, the undeveloped dwelling floors turn into mud. Many family have bad health due the struggle of poverty and living under harsh weather.
The Sahaya International 's housing project improves the quality of life for these impoverished family by provide new and safe home for each family. With the collaboration of the Transparent Fish Fund, Sahaya International has build over a milestone of 126 homes for poor families living in shacks. Over 50 new homes were donated from the Transparent Fish Fund and 16 homes were built in 2015.

In Vietnam, even to attend grade school students have to pay tuition. Many children are unable to have any type of education because of their financial difficulties. This results in an ongoing cycle of poverty. In 2015, Sahaya International in collaboration with Transparent Fish Fund has reached a milestone of a total of 170 scholarships. In 2015, Transparent Fish Fund have directly sponsor 90 students for the 2014-2015 school year.
There are many students whom struggle to attend school because of the far distances. These long distances plays a negative impact on the children accessibility for education. With the collaboration with the Transparent Fish Fund, Sahaya International is able to give 20 bicycles to students in need of transportation. |
In poor villages south of Vietnam, there dangerous bridges that children and elders have to cross everyday. Many people have accidents and fall into the river due to the poor bridges.
With the collaboration of the Transparent Fish Fund and SahayaInternational , we will be able to provide strong and safe bridges for the poor villages of Vietnam. As of 2015, Transparent Fish Fund and Sahaya International have provide 3 safe bridges for the impoverished villages. |
Field Updates 2014
In 2014, the Chao Family Foundation and TFish had granted Sahaya International $20,000 to serve the poor families on living in rural Vietnam. With the grant, Sahaya was able build 20 new homes for 20 families living in extreme poverty. These homes have given the families a much better quality of life and also a great sense of hope for their future. With true kindness, compassion, and friendship, TFish has help Sahaya built over 40 homes within in two years.

Scholarship Project: The success of our children's future is embedded in their education. With an adequate education, one can dispel the world of poverty. Sahaya International has developed an education program to provide education to underprivileged children. Living in extreme poverty and harsh living conditions, these children lack any opportunity for an education. With the collaboration with the Transparent Fish Fund and kind supporters, we were able to grant 124 scholarships to poor students. Each scholarships includes one year tuition, uniforms, school supplies, text book, and tutoring.

Scholarship Project Bicycles for School: Discovering one of our sponsorship student was not able to attend school this year because her home was too far from school, Sahaya International have aspired to help those scholarship children in need of means to travel to school by supplying them with bicycles. Their are many students whom struggle to attend school because of the far distances. These long distances plays a negative impact on the children accessibility for education. With the collaboration with the Transparent Fish Fund, Sahaya International was about to give 20 bicycles to students in need of transportation.

Sahaya International have help over 23 families living inhabitable conditions by improving their living conditions. This ultimately ensure the families with better health and hope for their children.

A family of elders whom have struggle with harsh living conditions for many years are finally able to have an adequate home. They are able to improve their living condition and health.

A family whom is able to receive a home before the birth of their new born child. Now the infant is able live and grow in a safer environment. Also, the sponsorship program is supporting their precious daughter through her education.

Many children are deprived of an adequate education because their family’s financial struggles. Job opportunity are limited to being day labors and few opportunities are available. These children in the scholarship program are ensure with a brighter future and more opportunities.

In September of 2012, Sahaya International have given over 200 school packages that includes schools supplies and uniforms to the rural children of Kien Giang, Vietnam. Many of these children are unable to pay for school fees and school supplies.
