Little Red Scarf is in Lanzhou, Gansu, and Yunnan provinces. We provide financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, we provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle More than one month has passed since the 2016 Summer Camp ended, but the children’s smiles and goofy faces are still vivid in my mind. Having Cindy's family join us at the camp from Canada opened the eyes of the rural children. It was the first time that the kids saw a map of Canada, understood the Canadian lifestyle, tasted Canadian candy, and even got gifts from Canada… During those few days of camp, Aunt Cindy learned that some kids did not have a change of clothes; some didn't even have extra underwear and socks. Because of time constraints, Aunt Cindy could not personally purchase clothing for the children, but she entrusted the staff to buy the right clothes for the kids. Yi Hong and Yi Xia lost their mother when they were young children and were taken care of by their grandmother. Because the family was poor and the grandmother was thrifty, the kids had few clothes. Because the kids were attending summer camp, the father bought clothes for the two kids especially for the occasion. Aunt Cindy found out that Yi Xia is a girl who would like to be pretty, but she did not have an extra change of clothes. So she asked us to buy two more sets of clothing for Yi Xia. Giving Yi Xia a long-sleeved t-shirt and leggings, and Yi Hong a set of sweaters and pair of trousers.

In 2012 with the help from LRS, Xiao Mei received a successful heart surgery. There are 5 people in her family: father, mother, older brother, older sister and Xiao Mei. Her grandmother just passed away due to illness. Xiao Mei’s brother and sister are both in college. Xiao Mei’s father has been in poor health and unable to go out for working since last year. Since junior high school, Xiao Mei has rented a place in the city closed to her school. She takes care of cooking and herself. In this June, Xiao Mei was admitted to a local key high school. Xiao Mei will face a more intense school life. Lanzhou Care gave Xiao Mei an education allowance of ¥1950. We hope Xiao Mei will be studying harder for the high school, we also hope Xiao Mei will be admitted to college in three years, so that she can achieve her dream of being a rural teacher, to provide children in remote rural areas with same good education as children in the cities. Let me tell you something about Xi’an. When I first came to the city, I felt its solemnity. I was expecting my life in the university. Looking at the high walls, I felt liking being living in another era. Xi’an has its historic prints. It is also an important pass for silk road. Xi’an has problems as other cities, such as fog and haze, especially when the temperature drops. People began to concern their environment. Living in such an environment, we could not be healthy, so environmental protection became urgent for all of us.
New life is nourishing me. It also brought more challenges to me. I will not let donors down. I will live the best of mine. Finally, wish all of you good health and happy every day. Xiao Wen Gansu Care is in Lanzhou, Gansu and provides financial support and encouragement to children in need who have suffered from congenital heart disease. In 2014, Li Hua received heart surgery with support from Little Red Scarf. Li Hua is 17 now. After graduating from junior high, she has decided to go to nursing school, to fulfill her dream of helping patients. Now Li Hua will begin an independent life, facing challenges by herself. We hope she will overcome life's challenges with a positive attitude, just like how she overcame congenital heart disease. On August 14, 2016, Li Hua received 1,950 RMB ($300 USD) to go toward her education, helping to cover the expense of her study for the present academic year. Li Hua will cherish the hard-won opportunity to study hard. We believe her efforts will pay off in the future.
