Little Red Scarf is in Lanzhou, Gansu and Yunnan province and provides financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, they provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Ruijing underwent congenital heart disease surgery in March of 2013 (http://www.toumingyu.com/project/2313/). and never came back for her post-surgery checkup. Her father was experiencing back pains and was unable of working on the farm, making her mother the main caretaker of the family. In addition, the Minxian earthquake destroyed their home, and after finishing building their house, they fell into debt. Since there was no work available in the area, Ruijing's mother picked cotton in a neighboring province for four months to pay off some of the debt. By the time she came home, it has already been a year and a half since Ruijing's surgery. On the morning of December 4th, I got a call from Ruijing’s mother telling me that they are at the hospital and asking me when I will be there. I told her that I am in a meeting right now and that she should go ahead and complete the checkup first. I will probably be at the hospital by the time you finish the checkup. Her mother told me she will do that and asked me to bring photos we took of Ruijing before her surgery. She wanted memory of all that they have overcome in this period of time.

Transparent Fish Fund, Chao Foundation, Bayshore Christian Ministries, and O'Keefe Family Center will volunteer to serve dinner in celebration of Christmas and God's blessings. We hope to be light to the families in East Palo Alto and support the ministry there. Volunteers will be needed to cook dinner, serve dinner, bring ingredients, bring utensils, sing Christmas carols, play an instrument, setup, clean up, and encourage the families with your story. We have been supporting the wonderful ministry on O'Keefe and Bayshore for the past few years. About O'Keefe Family Center: For the past several decades, the city of East Palo Alto has been affected by profound poverty, lack of education, and crime, even once claiming the notorious title as the "murder capital" of the U.S. Moved by these needs and convicted by their Christian faith, a group of young adults moved into the O'Keefe neighborhood in the mid-90s to live and develop relationships with the residents of EPA. This trend of young adults and students relocating to serve has persisted to this day, and it is now the heartbeat of our organization. The Family Center is part of Bayshore Christian Ministries, running free academic tutoring, mentorship, bible studies, and skills-learning programs for community members of all ages. For nearly 20 years, the vision of the ministry on O'Keefe has been kept alive by dedicated volunteers, community partners, and of course, the residents themselves. Mission: To share God's love in the neighborhoods of East Palo Alto through building relationships, sharing resources, and inviting people to become part of a transforming community If you cannot make it, please consider donating to buy food for the dinner and to keep their tutoring and Bible study programs alive: www.classy.org/tfishokeefe On Dec 19th, we will be serving a holiday dinner for 50 children and families from all over East Palo Alto. We still need a lot more volunteers to prep dinner, sing carols, share your testimony. Please join us in serving our community!
Why? We will volunteer to serve dinner during the Christmas season of giving back. We hope to be a light to the families in East Palo Alto and support the wonderful ministries there. Volunteers will be needed to cook dinner, serve dinner, bring ingredients, bring utensils, sing Christmas carols, play an instrument, setup, clean up, and encourage the families with your story. Our capacity building program supports over 200 NGOs in Asia. We provide funding to grass root organizations that share our same values of transparency. Read below for their stories! Transparent Fish Fund not only supported our medical aid mission for 12 children suffering from hemophilia in the Shaanxi area, but also supported our administration costs. When we first registered as a nonprofit, they taught us the idea of “Transparent Finances, Transparent Philanthropy.” They showed us how to improve our organization’s development and better help those patients who need support. Guan Tao, Beijing Hemophilia Care Center 10/27/2014
June of this year, a foreign-funded company, “Tianshi Combustion Equipment (Suzhou) LLC,” got to know Nayong Nonprofit Association through Transparent Fish Fund’s website. Because of TFish’s credibility, Tianshi Combustion Equipment Company trusted us. After several telephone conversations, Tianshi Combustion Equipment Company remitted a large donation of 56,000 yuan to Nayong Nonprofit Association’s account. Nayong Nonprofit Association 10/23/2014 Under Transparent Fish Fund Lab’s guidance, our center combed through our finances, perfected our project guidelines, and worked on recording and publicizing information. After a year of work, we discovered that our center has changed dramatically when we were doing project summaries. We improved our ability to integrate societal resources, increase participation of volunteers, and inspired more trust from our community. Chongqing Xinyue Senior Support Center 10/23/2014 Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry: People with leprosy are sent to isolated villages where they are abandoned and forgotten by society. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry has a special place in its heart for these people and organizes groups of volunteers to travel to villages plagued with leprosy in order to provide medical, living, and psychological assistance. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry is located in Kunming, Yunnan. Yunnan Leprosy Village and Mr. and Mrs. Chao decided to visit a leprosy rehabilitation village in the east of Yunnan October in the east of Yunnan in November. Clover Youth was initiated by the high school graduates, who are dedicated to create learning opportunities via practice and social environment led by youth peers, cultivating youth with love, ideas and action. It is located in Guangzhou city.
What does affect your long term development and sustainability? As 2014 comes to a close, I would like to share the research project I conducted for my graduate program in the populous country of Yunnan. There, I am trying to coordinate the number of obstacles that Clover Youth, the public service organization that I am working for, will encounter during the project in Guangzhou. In the county, I will be educating the students of the low working class by teaching them how to read, while trying to promote students' interest in reading and electronic culture . Transparent Fish Fund’s November theme to share features the difficulties of public service, in addition to institutional sponsoring of the local organization. By holding several in-depth conversations, as a I look back on this experience as a young adult participating in public service, found that throughout this process of development, there are varying differences throughout the duration of this process. Additionally, by being a young person that participates in public service events as well as an active member of the Clover Youth organization, I witness various aspects of the developing process, but also the phenomenon of the social environment in Guangzhou. |
