Little Red Scarf is in Lanzhou, Gansu province and provides financial support and encouragement to children suffering from congenital heart disease. In addition, they provide families with post-operative care and help the children sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Surgery in 2014
Xiao Wen was diagnosed with congenital heart disease during his university entrance physical examination in 2014. His family has 4 members in it, but none of them were doing very well. His parents did not work in the city due to poor health. The whole family relied on a few mu (less than an acre) of mountainous fields. Xiao Wen and his sister attended school but life was difficult for them. Xiao Wen successfully underwent heart surgery with the help of Little Red Scarf in June 2014.
University Admittance in 2015
In 2015, Xiao Wen was accepted into the university, which was a significant event in his life, but his family had to take on a heavier financial burden. Since 2015, Xiao Wen and his family have been part of our Adopt a Family program through Gansu Care. With the help of loving people, Xiao Wen completed his first year in the university.
Continued Support and Volunteering in 2016
We're continuing to support Xiao Wen for 2016.
During our summer camp this year, Xiao Wen served as a volunteer. He was fully engaged in what he did and became an excellent volunteer. When he was asked about his dream, he said, “With the help and care from Little Red Scarf, I understood how to help other people, and I became thankful. I want to be a volunteer and help more people.” Xiao Wen grew up quickly with our help. We hope Xiao Wen will value his time at the university.
