In partnership with International China Concern, we are helping educate children with disabilities in China. Our funding for 9 iPads and 6PCs will empower youth in 3 cities to maximize their communication and learning potential and increase their levels of independence.
January 9, 2017: Equipment on Order and Being Delivered
We are excited that this week:
Eagerly Waiting for New Computers
Our staff in China are so excited to get their new computers and iPads for the kids. I look forward to sharing photos and updates with you as soon as they are delivered.
Thank you for everything. I was just in China for a week before the holidays. I had the privilege of sitting with one of our teenage girls with Cerebral Palsy who is using her chin to operate a computer. She was in the middle of writing a story about her dreams for the future. It was so powerful to see her ability to communicate with the use of technology available to her. It made me realize that many more children will now have that opportunity because of the TFish funding.
December 30, 2016: Tech Models Finalized
We have finalized the models that we need to purchase for the iPads, the computers, and the 2 adaptable mice. Given that December is a very busy month for the staff – and with holiday schedules – we will not be purchasing the iPads and computers until next week. The mice are being placed on order.
In the process of finalizing the items to purchased, we realized that we need to purchase iPad cases for the iPads. The kids who use these iPads do not necessarily have strong hand control and they can take a beating. We can purchase them cheaply in the US and have people take the iPad cases over to China in mid-January. We also discovered that the prices of the 2 adaptable mice are more expensive than we anticipated.
