Longwan Caring Home is located in Dahua County, which was listed as one of the poorest counties in Guangxi Province. Longwan Caring Home is a big family consisting of orphans, single parents, and abandoned children. The normal living costs of the Home are covered by the plantation, breeding, and small business.
Our partners donated about 100 picture books to Longwan. We are lucky to have a shelf with 100 books for our children! Each night, we have a story reading time for our children. Tonight we are going to read "No, David!" The story is about a mother and her son David. The children like the story very much. They like to draw on the wall as much as David did.
One of the charming aspects of picture books is their capacity to transform. During the reading, we were often interrupted by the children’s applause and cheers. The story means more though with the participation. We try to bring in some creative dialogue instead of only reading stories.
