Help Rui Rui get the medication she needs to treat her high pulmonary artery pressure.
LRS Decides to Help
Little Red Scarf found out about Rui Rui in March this year. The connection was established by the hospital’s Dr. Zhang, who tried to help her by introducing LRS to her family. Rui Rui is 19 years old and in sixth grade. Due to her age, however, she doesn’t qualify for any financial assistance in the area. The LRS staff initially contacted her family by telephone. While we knew she was over-age, we didn’t want her to miss an opportunity for assistance if she was really in need. We eventually met face-to-face in the hospital to learn more about her situation, and at that point we decided to step in to help.
No Chance for Surgery
To start the process, Rui Rui went through a series of diagnostics and consultations. The chance for recovery seemed promising. Then, those hopes were dashed. Unfortunately, the doctors confirmed that Rui Rui’s sick heart developed high pressure in her pulmonary artery. A heart surgery would be too risky to carry out. When the bad news came, Rui Rui’s brother broke down in the doctor’s office. He was determined to find Rui Rui a cure, no matter what the price was. But in the end, there wasn’t even hope for a cure.
Rui Rui’s aged parents aren’t healthy either. They regularly rely on medication. The nephew and niece are still in their infant stage. The only bread winner in the family is Rui Rui’s brother, but his income barely makes ends meet.
Rui Rui is now on long-term medication to prevent her condition from getting worse. This medication adds another burden to the family. Since Rui Rui can’t have surgery, let’s at least help her get the medication she needs!
