I felt blessed to be at a camp that gave me so much happiness. We were all very unified, like a team.
This summer I attended the Little Red Scarf summer camp, where I met different friends from different parts of Gansu province.
I had lots of fun during the camp and played many games. My favorite was called “A heart with a thousand knots.” In this game, we grouped up into a circle holding hands and each person remembered who was on their left and right sides. Our ordering would then be scrambled and then we would find a way to hold hands with our two original left-right partners, forming a huge “knot.” We then had to find a way to get back into the original ordering, slowly undoing the “knot.”
On top of having fun, we would learn a new principle of life with each game. In addition to games, there were 4 volunteers that led our classes. They were all so great, especially Xiao Wen, who was always making us laugh.
We climbed Xinglong Mountain. We were exhausted when we got to the top because it was so high. I don’t know how I was able to climb back down. I have a fear of heights (I realized this was my first time climbing a mountain despite being this old already) and got really scared.
In the dormitories, I was grouped with Lina, Yanmei, and Jialing. Lina was the dormitory leader, and a volunteer.
My favorite activity was the red carpet walk. I partnered with Jialing and our theme was “A Rich Woman with a Maid.” However, someone changed it to “Phoenix Legend,” which amazed and stunned us.
In conclusion, I felt blessed to be at a camp that gave me so much happiness. We were all very unified, like a team.
Also, Aunt Cindy’s family was very nice. They gave us lots of presents. There were useful things like rulers and other things like stuffed bears. I really like Aunt Cindy’s family and hope that I can come to this camp again next summer.
