Little Red Scarf is an NGO that sponsors congenital heart surgeries for diseased children.
On March 6th, 2013, Cheng Fang was admitted by hospital with the money raised from different people after she had arranged everything well for her husband and son. After checking in, she was cooperative for various checks. She was in poor health and suddenly fainted during blood drawing, which scared all of us. Our biggest concern was her health. She was too weak to accept the operation. Anyway, it was our concern.
The day before the operation, her sister and brother came to the hospital and took care of her. The family tie seemed so valuable at the moment. 3 siblings had not taken a picture for 20 years, so Cheng Fang asked me if I could take the picture for three of them. Hearing this, tears were almost running down from my eyes. I understood why Cheng Fang asked like that, because she had asked me, “Yun, will I be all right?” I knew what she meant and what her concern was. Sibling photo was a mental preparation for her.
The operation was going smoothly on March 12th. Cheng Fang was transferred to the general ward on March 13th. Her brother and sister could take care of her. It was really great news. Cheng Fang said she missed her family so much that she wished she could see her husband and son immediately. Now the hope and confidence of reborn was full of Cheng Fang’s operated heart.
On March 18th, the 7th day of the operation, Cheng Fang could leave hospital and went back home. During thank-you video shooting, Cheng Fang said, “thank little red scarf, because you saved my life.” At that moment, our faces were covered with tears.
We made a little surprise to Cheng Fang by giving her son a backpack, because she told us before that her son had never had a new schoolbag.
