Changing Young Lives Foundation is a Hong Kong registered charity striving to identify underprivileged children, youths and their families in Hong Kong and mainland China and change their lives for the better. "Smart Mom" is a support program for underprivileged mothers on childcare and family cohesiveness.
With the generous support of Transparent Fish Fund, “Smart Mom” has launched various self-enhancement learning classes, parent education workshops, parent-child activities as well as playgroups for single and underprivileged mothers. These activities help strengthen the mothers’ social skills, realize their potentials, broaden their visions and social networks, and improve parent-child communication skills. The overall family relationship will be enhanced through increased problem solving ability and family cohesiveness. The mutual support among these families will also be strengthened.
Parent Education Workshops
Experienced instructors use different activities such as crafts, playing card games and video sharing to illustrate how to facilitate harmonious parent-child relationships. The mothers gain insights and share their difficulties on communicating with their children. They are encouraged and supported each other through the process.
The mothers learn practical skills in enhancing their children’s sensory-motor integration as well as ways to play with their children. Playing is one of the best ways to build up parent-child relationships.
Parent-Child Activities: Fun Day and Summer Camp
Outdoor activities provide opportunities for underprivileged families to relax and spend valuable time together. These activities promote love and care among each family, strengthening parent-child relationships and facilitating a harmonious family life.
