Chongqing Xinyue Senior Citizen Service Center was established in October of 2011. Grounded on core values of respect, love, and service, the Center promotes social work services for senior citizens and builds harmonious living environment for them.
Aunt Luo’s bright smile caught me the first time I met her. She is a smart woman, running a small grocery store. All her income comes from the shop. She would join us for some volunteer work when she finished her business at the shop. She became known as the respectable “sister Luo” around the community.
The elderly in the nursing homes are unfortunate. They lie on their beds all day long, staring up at the ceiling as if they were dead. They have to live alone without children around after a lifetime of hard work. "We are young and healthy. We should keep them company when we have time. I am not rich enough to donate money, but I have time and I will try to do more good deeds,” Aunt Luo told me.
We have been advocating for a civil society. We believe that we can build a harmonious and loving society if we can love and care more for the people in need around us.
