Yunnan Leprosy Village: Activity in February

5/27/2015

Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry:People with leprosy are sent to isolated villages where they are abandoned and forgotten by society. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry has a special place in its heart for these people and organizes groups of volunteers to travel to villages plagued with leprosy in order to provide medical, living, and psychological assistance. The Shalom Leprosy Compassion Ministry is located in Kunming, Yunnan.

In February of 2015, we visited lepers from Yangquangou and Zhushan villages and we also made plans to visit our friends, Lisu people, in Moon Village of Nujiang prefecture.

On February 14, we organized volunteers from abroad and domestic for the visit. We brought donated gifts and visited Yangquangou village, Yiliang county before Chinese Lunar New Year. They not only brought greetings, but performances to 18 lepers and their families. We would like to share some photos for this activity.

Leprosy patients were waiting for the volunteers early in the morning. Volunteers of Shalom would like to communicate with them before Chinese New Year. People are greeting volunteers in the yard. They were talking and sharing with each other. The volunteers are ready to give performances.

Volunteers
were  distributing gifts. According to the needs, the volunteers raised 18 induction cookers to the villagers. Liang Ping concerned about the health of the lepers. She brought a Chinese medicine doctor, hoping the doctor could relief the illness and give them a nice Chinese New Year.

Thank TFish Fund:

Hearing volunteers and Liang Ping were going to visit the village, Baocai and Baolian, supported by TFish, and other lepers were waiting at the village early in the morning. They hope to give their new year greetings to Mr. and Mrs. Zhao via Liang Ping. They wanted to thank all supports to them. The brother and sister would study hard and reward people’s love with excellent school performances.

According to the customs, we would give Baocai and Baolian lucky money, which means a greeting to them to grow one year elder and a good wish for the coming year.

Liang Ping was with them and Baocai and Baolian were holding a thank-you letter. They wanted to thank all loves and cares from TFish. They wanted to give their best wishes to the year of sheep.

Lao Wu and his granddaughter paid their greetings to TFish and Mr. and Mrs. Zhao for their concerning and caring to the lepers in Yangquangou village. They not only built solar-energy bath room, but donated 4000 scholarship to his granddaughter for her education. On behalf of other lepers, he gave his best wishes for the coming year.

Visit Lisu people in Fugong County, Nujiang prefecture:

Shalom has been trying hard to pass on the love of TFish and Mr. and Mrs Zhao to remoter places. According to the plan, we visited a village living with Lisu people in Fugong county, Nujiang Prefecture during Chinese New Year holidays. We spent a nice day with Lisu people.

After visiting, we were on the way back to Kunming. The road is dangerous. One side is the high mountains and the other side is a roaring river. Though Luo brothers drove carefully, our car was turned on its side bumped into a rock when avoiding the rolling stones from the mountains. One person’s ribs were broken and the vehicle was badly damaged. Fortunately, the car bumped into the mountain instead of falling down to the river running on the other side of the road.

The accident caused great lose and injuries to Liang Ping and some friends, but people calmed down and sent the injuries to hospital. The car was sent to a local repair shop and was sent to Kunming 5 days later.

We focused to handle the accident and the rescue injuries. The accident influenced Shalom and Liang Ping, but we will not stop our pace. We will try our best to do leprosy care in Yunnan province with the help of TFish. We want more people feel being loved from TFish.
