Every time I’m in a wandering or lonely time, I become strong.
Every time though very hurt, I don't shed tears.
I know I always have one pair of hidden wings, which let me fly, fly over the desperation.
You must be familiar with the popular song. There are lots of angels with the Little Red Scarf who have wings but can’t fly.
Ya Peng was a six-year-old boy. There was a pair of big eyes on his round face. Unfortunately, he had congenital heart disease. What was worse, he had to hold his food with his left hand because his right hand had a congenital malformation. He was born in a very poor family. His father had congenital deafness. His uncle helped them find the hospital for Ya Peng. His abnormal right hand deeply hurt us. He was a lovely boy but he suffered from these severe diseases. Just like others, his parents hoped his son would have a bright future. But he was a big bird with broken wings. Ya Peng felt inferior because of his diseases. When I talked with his family, he always glanced at me. The expression in his eyes was like a shy girl.
Ya Peng was the child that the Little Red Scarf was looking for. We was sure to bring him a pair of invisible wings, which lets him fly, fly over the desperation.
With the help of the Little Red Scarf, Ya Peng was taken to hospital quickly. We gave him psychological guidance before the operation in hope that he could know about his disease and accept the operation. Ya Peng suffered a lot during the operation. His doctors worried about Low Cardiac Output Syndrome after the operation. It is the most difficult obstacle that children with severe congenital heart disease must overcome. Unfortunately, Low Cardiac Output Syndrome happened to Ya Peng after the operation and the symptoms kept up for 24 hours. Doctors decided to have another operation for Ya Peng. Suffering inconceivable pain, Ya Peng stayed in the ICU for a week. His father kept waiting for the first crying of Ya Peng out of the ICU. It was the adamancy that made Ya Peng recover. We accompanied him every day after the operation and sent him nutrition and a school bag. We believe that Ya Peng will be stronger after experiencing this turning point of his life. Just as the song goes,
“I finally see all dreams come into blossom;
In pursuit of youth, the song is so loud and clear;
I finally soar and gaze with a fearless heart;
Flying far away with the winds;
The hidden wings make the dreams last forever.”
