Got the end-of-summer blues? Then let these inspiring stories wash over you like waves on the seashore.
As summer wraps up, the sunny beach days might be over….But in place of the sand and ocean, here are some touching stories from Little Red Scarf to still warm your heart.
Ray of Hope: Cheng Xiang
Cheng Xiang, an 18-month-old boy, had one of the most severe cases of congenital heart disease we had ever seen. Before his first surgery in May 2015, Cheng Xiang’s lips, cheeks, and hands were black. After a successful surgery, his complexion became normal and he could finally laugh! Thanks to our generous donors, he is now undergoing his second surgery. Read more about this little fighter.
Moist, Salty Tears: In Memory of Dayong
Our goal is to save as many lives as possible. But sometimes the needs are just too urgent. With sadness and condolences, we grieve the loss of Dayong, who was featured in our June newsletter. His desire to go to college remains just a dream. Yet his caring heart and his love for writing will continue to inspire us all.
In honor of Dayong's desire to encourage others, will you help someone else in urgent need?
Better Than Beach Shacks: New Houses for Vietnamese Families
Imagine living under a shelter made of tarps and debris. When the monsoon season comes, your “house” becomes flooded and muddy. This is the living situation for many impoverished families in Vietnam. In partnership with Sahaya Vietnam, we have the opportunity to provide sturdy new houses for them.
As those summer sandcastles fade away, let's build something more long-lasting. Whether it's providing a new house or a new heart, join us to help a family in need!
